Alleppey Shikara Cruise

Alleppey Shikara – The Best Way to Explore Kerala’s Hidden Waterways

Overview

Looking for a serene and budget-friendly way to explore the Alleppey backwaters? Our Alleppey Shikara Boat Cruise offers an intimate and peaceful ride through the narrow canals, lush greenery, and charming village landscapes of Kerala. Perfect for couples, solo travelers, and small groups, a Shikara ride provides a close-up view of local life, birdwatching spots, and hidden gems along the waterways.

The shikara boat is a traditional open canoe-like country boat which has been equipped with bamboo seats and an overhead bamboo canoe for shade. It has a four-stroke outboard petrol engine. All the sides of a Shikara boat are open for the best view for sightseeing and therefore the travel is much more relaxing even in the afternoon. As it is small in size, it can cruise through small canals where you can watch people living in the backwater villages. The best feature of Shikara boats is that they can travel to very small canals where Houseboats and Motor boats cannot reach.
